THE book traces some of the places in the city which were important to Patrick McGoohan.

Solly Street: St Vincent's RC School attended by 10-year-old Patrick and the youth club where he later began acting

Tinsley: McGoohan's first job in the steel mill of the British Rope Company

Clarkehouse Road, Broomhill: McGoohan family home

George Street: Worked in the National Provincial Bank and also in branches at High Street and Tinsley

Greenhow Street, Walkley: Walkley Ebenezer Church Hall where he first performed with the Sheffield Curtain Club in 1946

Townhead Street: the Sheffield Playhouse where he first became a professional actor after beginning as a trainee stage manager in 1948

Leopold Street/ Pinstone Street: manhole cover where McGoohan successfully proposed to Joan Drummond in 1950 at the third attempt

Fulwood Road: Patrick lived at No 373 and Joan at nearby 402. McGoohan's father worked as a gardener at Notre Dame school

Ecclesall Road: St William of York Catholic Church where they were married.
