Miss Molly Cabernet Sauvignon/Merlot 2008, Morseon Vineyard
For 30 years myself and my family have been involved in bringing great wines to the Sheffield area, firstly with Wine Schoppen on Abbeydale Road and subsequently at Barrels and Bottles in the Wicker, Heeley and currently just down the A61 at Sheepbridge near Chesterfield.
My criteria are quality and value. I want to bring the best possible quality wines and offer them at what I feel is really good value for money.
The first wine I want to feature hits the spot exactly. It comes from a vineyard in Franschoek, South Africa, at the end of the Happy Valley road, which specialises in great wines, especially wines that work really well with food. Neil Jewell, head chef of their stunning restaurant, Bread and Wine, offers patiently constructed charcuterie. Winemaker Clayton Reabow makes patiently constructed wines.
It is a match made in heaven and something that you can share right here in Sheffield, Chesterfield and the surrounding area.
This is a sumptuous and soft wine with great backbone and goes superbly well with braised beef and lamb, rich cheeses and even a simple steak and salad.
Tasting Notes: Miss Molly In My Bed Cabernet Sauvignon/Merlot 2008 displays upfront smoky cedar with undertones of dark cassis fruit, these are offset by distinct blueberry richness. It has smoky flavours that roll easily onto the palate. Its lingering dark fruit serves as a delicious take-another-sip reminder.
This is a wine designed to drink young and its smooth palate, with its evenly balanced tannins, makes this incredibly easy to do.
