Mobile CCTV plan for Sheffield
NEW mobile CCTV cameras could be randomly deployed around Sheffield city centre in a bid to tackle graffiti, fly-posting and other anti-social behaviour.
One option to be considered by Sheffield councillors is that the camera network could be partly operated by volunteers, to increase community involvement in the scheme.

A similar project in Kent studied by officers tackled problem hotspots, reducing crime and increasing environmental regeneration.
The use of wireless CCTV cameras could ensure problems are not simply moved to somewhere else in the city.
Detailed costing for the scheme has yet to be completed but will be carried out if it is agreed that further research is needed.
The proposals will be considered by a council scrutiny board next Thursday.
