Petition over crowded train

TRAIN passengers campaigning for extra carriages on a packed route through Sheffield have now launched a petition on the 10 Downing Street website.

It has been set up by TrainSardine, a protest group formed by passengers on the Liverpool to Norwich train service through Sheffield, who are also sending tins of sardines to bosses at East Midlands Trains in protest about overcrowding.

The line has seen its trains shrink from three to two carriages and will receive none of 1,300 new coaches being ordered by the Government over the next few years despite a huge increase in demand, meaning some trains are so full people are left behind on platforms.

The organisation is urging people to sign the petition at http://petitions.number10.gov.uk/TrainSardine
