THE housing market in Yorkshire received a timely boost today when the region’s leading housebuilder said it would be opening four new sites in the next two months alone.
Barratt Yorkshire West plans to start work on four new developments comprising 498 new homes in May and June.
The developments have a total sales value of close to £78m and provide further evidence that the property market in Yorkshire is likely to outperform some other parts of the country, the company says.
The new developments include two in the Rotherham area – Meadow Walk in Brampton, due to open in May, and Parkside, Brinsworth, set to open its doors in June. The others are in the Leeds area.
“Many househunters in Yorkshire think that now is a good time to buy because prices are lower than in 2007 and interest rates are rock bottom.
“We believe that this will help sustain the local housing market whatever happens to the national economy,” said Ian Ruthven, Sales Director at Barratt Yorkshire West.
“We would not be making this significant commitment to the market in this area unless we were confident about its prospects in the medium-term.”
“By building these developments we will be bringing new jobs to Yorkshire. We will also be creating well-designed, competitively-priced new homes which local people need.”
