Sex act paramedic struck off

A MARRIED paramedic caught in his uniform on CCTV having sex with his lover in a hospital car park was this afternoon found guilty of misconduct and struck off.

David Brammer, from Sheffield, cavorted with the woman for nearly 14 minutes when he was spotted by a security guard patrolling the grounds of Rotherham District General Hospital.

Derek Adrian-Harris, chair of the panel said they found Mr Brammer's fitness to practise was impaired at the time and remains so today.

Mr Adrian-Harris found that Brammer's conduct was both "deliberate and reckless" and "undermined public confidence in the profession".

He said Brammer had failed to understand the "profound unacceptability of his behaviour".

During the hearing, security manager Cliff Morrison said he was sure of what he witnessed and confirmed there had been examples of similar activity in the hospital car park.

But Mr Brammer claims he was only consoling the un-named woman.

The Health Professions Council was shown footage of the alleged act in private.

Chris Whalley, for the HPC, said Mr Brammer was due to start his shift for the Yorkshire Ambulance Trust at about 11.30pm on June 10 last year when security staff became suspicious.

Ainsley Dale alerted colleague Barry Hercock in the nearby security lodge and he zoomed in one of the hospital's cameras above the car.

The incriminating footage lasted a total of 14 minutes from 11.35 to 11.49pm, it was claimed.

Mr Whalley added: "Mr Brammer accepts he was present in the car but denies a sexual act was taking place.

"It is the council's case that the evidence proves the facts on the balance of probability, and these facts are a clear example of misconduct, and as such Mr Brammer's fitness to practice is currently impaired."

Mr Brammer claimed he was trying to console the woman after telling her he did not want to see her any more.

Lance Dodgson, representing him, said: "When Mr Brammer first got into that vehicle, the lady in question lashed out towards Mr Brammer three times.

"It is the case that the lady in question was angry and volatile when Mr Brammer said he didn't want to see her any more."

Mr Dodgson claimed Mr Brammer was trying to calm the sobbing woman.

Mr Brammer, who was suspended after the incident, denied misconduct.

He told investigators the woman had been 'stalking' him and tried to give him oral sex to show him what he was missing with his wife.

Mr Brammer had been having marital problems when he started seeing the woman but he halted the affair, the Health Professions Council heard.

Yorkshire Ambulance Trust Investigator Sharon Witton told the hearing: "Dave had said that he was being pestered by a woman that he had met and gone out with.

"The woman had been pestering him, he even said maybe stalking him. She had been contacting him quite a lot by text that night while he was working and was threatening to come to the hospital to see him.

"So to stop that happening he agreed to see her in the car park."

During his first interview, Mr Brammer told Miss Witton: "She said: 'I'm going to show you what you're missing'."

He told the hearing he was trying to break up with the woman that night.
