A Sharrow Vale greengrocer’s shop has proved such a runaway success that it has moved into an empty car showroom just down the road.
The Sharrow Marrow, opened four years ago by Nikki Muir, has been so popular that it outgrew its original premises.
And when Nikki spotted the empty garage showroom, three doors away in Sharrowvale Road, it was the answer to her problem.
"It's one massive warehouse space, but it was beautiful – and things just escalated from there," she says.
Nikki finally got the keys in September and set about refurbishing the premises and restructuring the space.
It opened this week featuring an added bonus for customers – a café alongside the fruit and veg shop: "We wanted an open plan, market feel; bright and vibrant," she says.
Friend Sara Pinfold has been brought in as caf é manager, with chef Ste Mullins in charge of the kitchen.
He will be cooking a monthly-changing menu of hearty seasonal food, locally sourced, including bread from Seven Hills Bakery.
Specialities will include one-pot dishes and soups made with the pick of the Sharrow Marrow veg shop crops.
