AN ART exhibition of black and white prints ‘inspired by Sheffield’ is launching in the city centre today.

The display, called Shadowlands, goes on show at Bird’s Yard, on Chapel Walk Mondays to Saturdays until Feburary 18, with works from 30 artists.

Curated by Claira Turvey, owner of Vertiline In Love, one of the micro-boutiques within Bird’s Yard, Shadowlands is an exhibition of black and white prints.

On view will be a collection of favourite places, hidden spaces, memories and dreams from artists in the city.

There will also be a selection of viewpoints from those who have visited the city or simply look upon it from afar.

Claira said: “I thought this was a perfect opportunity to create an event that celebrated the city we live in.

“I was interested to see how artists responded to the environment and what kind of shadowy dreamscapes would be produced.”

The opening party is today between 1pm and 4pm, with live music and canapés.
