Sue steps up to the mic for Sheffield charity song
Sue Whitham has released a single and covers album while struggling with terminal secondary breast cancer.
A BRAVE mum who is fighting terminal cancer has achieved her lifelong ambition of writing and recording her own songs – which she has released to raise money for a Sheffield charity.
Sue Whitham, aged 50, has brought out a single and covers album while struggling through her battle with secondary breast cancer.
The mum-of-two has penned a track called Believe, which is available to buy on iTunes, with proceeds going to Weston Park Hospital.
Sue received treatment for breast cancer in 2005, but was later told it had spread to her lungs, liver, bones and brain.
She has been one of the first people to offer their support to Weston Park for 2013, making her mark on the good cause’s ‘pledge wall’ online.
Sue, from Wickersley, Rotherham, said: “My care through Weston Park Hospital has been fantastic.
“I’m by no means an accomplished musician, but my aim was to release a song which could keep people going through any kind of difficulty in their lives.
”I refuse to believe my cancer is incurable and will continue to live my life as fully as I am able to.”
Sarah Cross, fundraiser at the charity, said: “The first time I met Sue I was blown away by how lively and optimistic she was – it was obvious how much releasing the single means to her.
“We are so incredibly grateful that, while achieving her dream in the face of huge adversity, she is also raising money for Weston Park Hospital Cancer Charity, which will make a big difference to patient care now and in the future.”
