Tanzania trip will raise funds for cancer nurses

ADVENTURERS can enjoy a trip of a lifetime and raise vital cash to help fund cancer care nurses in South Yorkshire.

Project Tanzania will raise money for Marie Curie nurses across South Yorkshire and enable people to help a development project in the African country's picturesque Rift Valley.

People on the 12-day expedition can enjoy trekking around the shores of Lake Manyara and work with the local Mbulu people helping refurbish and repair local school.

Marie Curie Cancer Care South Yorkshire fundraising officer Liz Gow said: "From the moment you sign up we will be with you every step of the way.

"This overseas community project is a unique opportunity to make a real physical contribution to the lives of people living abroad, in their local community.

"Whilst at home, your fundraising will be helping us care for more terminally ill cancer patients at our 10 Marie Curie hospices across the UK.

"This is such an amazing one-off experience - the challenge is open to anyone but if you're celebrating a big birthday in 2009 then what better way to celebrate than doing something totally different than ever before."

Project Tanzania costs 299 to register and people taking part must raise at least 3,400 in sponsorship.

Return flights, accommodation, meals, project tools and materials and full support crew are included.
