1.artyn Wyndham-Read, Traditional and contemporaty songs from the folk singer who has been plying his trade for more than 40 years. He used to live in Australia - and it's reflected in his songs. The Harlequin, Nursery Street, Monday, 8pm

2.My Idea of Fun, solo exhibition of work by local artist Paul Evans provides an insight into the way this artist develops his work over time, and reveals the complexities and challenges of this process, The Circle, Rockingham Lane, Mondays-Fridays, 9am-5pm until January 29.

3.Christmas Crackers, the popular annual showcase for contemporary craft and design in the North of England makes a welcome return to Museums Sheffield featuring work from more than 80 of the UK's most sought after makers and designers in hand crafted jewellery, textiles, metalwork, ceramics and homeware, Millennium Gallery, Arundel Gate, Mondays-Saturdays, 10am-5pm, Sundays, 11am-5pm to January 10.

4.Comedians: From the 1940s to Now, drawn from the collections of the National Portrait Gallery, iconic images of some of Britain's best-loved entertainers. from Frankie Howerd and Les Dawson to ensembles such as Monty Python and French and Saunders in intimate portraits by photographers including Annie Leibovitz and Henri Cartier Bresson, Graves Gallery, Surrey Street, Monday-Friday, 10am-4pm, Saturday 10am-5pm until March 20.

5.King Arthur, Norton Players present their annual fun-filled family pantomime, Coal Aston Village Hall, Eckington Road, Coal Aston, Monday to Saturday, 7.15pm plus Saturday matinee 2.30pm (6/ 5, family ticket 20, 2372326).

6.Pewter Live 2009, prestigious exhibition organised by the Worshipful Company of Pewterers re-locates from London to showcase the work of established craftspeople and young designers, Butcher Works, Arundel Street, Monday to Saturday, 10am - 4pm.

7.EXIT 4 - Legacy, exhibition celebrating the success of emerging silversmiths Christina Spencer and Sarah Stevenson, Yorkshire Artspace, Persistence Works, Brown Street, Mondays to Fridays, 10am to 5pm (Thursdays 10.45am opening), until January 13.

8.Arts Bytes, Art in the Park scheme providing the opportunity for adults to learn new art techniques from mosaic to print making and to meet new people, includes a trip t to the Yorkshire Sculpture Park, no experience in art or IT necessary, Pakistani Muslim Centre, Woodbourne Road, Wednesdays, 10am-12.30pm to February 3; St Bartholomew's Church, Primrose Hill , Langsett, Thursdays, 10am-1pm to February 4; Southey Green Primary School, Crowder Avenue, Fridays, 1pm-3.15pm to February 5; Hillsborough Trinity Methodist Church, Middlewood Road, Mondays, 10am-12.30pm to February 8 (free, all materials provided, just turn up or contact Luisa, 2686813 or luisa@artinthepark.org.uk).

9.Foil, one hour fencing courses for beginners from 11 years to OAPs welcome, nNational registered, CRB checked coaches, latest safety equipment.
