The exotic air of a tropical paradise comes to Sheffield city centre next month with the opening of the city’s first tiki bar.
The Bamboo Door will take over the former La Foret premises in Leopold Square, bringing its own blend of cocktails, boutique spirits and rum, enhanced by a touch of Polynesian magic.
The bar will also reunite a popular local partnership: director Andy Trudgill and operations manager Tom Higham met at Menzels in Ecclesall Road but have both since moved on to other ventures. Now they are joining forces to bring home a taste of the South Pacific.
“We have a huge amount of bar and restaurant experience across the UK between us, though we have always returned to Sheffield,” says Tom.
“We will hopefully be raising the game for mixed drinks and providing a unique atmosphere and experience.”
The bar will combine classic and bespoke cocktails, using home made ingredients, fresh produce and eye-catching presentation.
He adds: “We hope to create a very special atmosphere with a true sense of escapism, bringing together great drinks, service and sense of fun.”
