Nine gardens in Totley will be open to the public on Saturday and Sunday from 1pm to 5pm.

Ranging from the quirky to woodland, they are joining Totley Open Gardens, which have raised more than £15,500 for local charities since starting in 2002.

Many visitors want to pick up ideas for their own gardens, said Jennie Street, whose own garden at 16 The Grove includes junk sculptures as well as more traditional features. “People have different size gardens and they want to compare them with their own.”

There are regulars, and some visitors come from well outside Sheffield.

Cream teas will be served in one garden. Plants will be for sale in some, and toilets are available in others. All locations are listed in the £4 programme available before the event from Totley Library and over the weekend from a table outside 170, Baslow Road. Visit { Gardens|click here}
