Marc is moving on after being bought out by Matt, who says: “There’s been no fall-out – we wish Marc well. I’ve got some exciting changes planned at both the Milestone and the Wig & Pen over the next few months.”
The business was founded in 2006 and expanded to take on the Wig & Pen in Campo Lane after the Milestone was named Gordon Ramsay’s Best British Restaurant in 2010.
El Paso’s Moorfoot move
The revitalised Moor area gets another shot in the arm next Thursday with the official opening of the new El Paso restaurant, which has taken over the neighbouring Moorfoot Tavern.
Around £250,000 has been invested to double the size of the Mexican and Italian eaterie, a popular fixture in Cumberland Street for nearly 20 years. El Paso can now cater for up to 120 diners and is fully licensed, with bar, restaurant and dancefloor.
Spokesman Sergio Arenas said: “We believe we have a strong brand that can be expanded into the larger premises and start to put the Moor area on the city’s culinary map alongside existing restaurants like the nearby Shapla and Zing Vaa.”
City’s chain of command
There’s another vote of confidence for Sheffield as two national chains invest in the city.
The Cavendish pub in West Street reopens next Thursday evening, the second of pub company Stonegate’s new designated student chain; and banqueting restaurant COSMO opens in St Paul’s Place later this month.
The Cavendish will offer craft beers, cocktails and snacks alongside free wifi, printer, USB points and super-fast broadband.
COSMO is an all-you-can-eat restaurant serving a choice of 150 dishes from 14 different countries.
