Vivienne the star of her own fashion history show
SHEFFIELD doesn't dress up every night but the city pulled out the stops for the launch at the Millennium Galleries on Wednesday of Vivienne Westwood: The Exhibition.
A host of fashionistas garbed out imaginatively in homage to Dame Vivienne ensured it was one of Sheffield's most glamorous nights.
Apart from the fashion icon herself, it had attracted some famous names to Sheffield in TV presenter Fearne Cotton, on the list of Vivienne Westwood celebrity fans, singer and actress Toyah Wilcox, ex-footballer and reality TV star Lee Sharpe, boyfriend of Coronation Street actress Kym Marsh, and film-maker, musician and DJ Don Letts who is making a documentary about Westwood.
And there was a fair share of Sheffield's own celebs, mostly from the world of music in Nick O'Malley of the Arctic Monkeys, crooner Tony Christie and members of Reverend and the Makers, along with media personalities and the great and the good of the city.
The exhibition is the only UK showing outside London of the international tour of the work of Vivienne Westwood, brought to Sheffield in partnership with the V&A in London and featuring more than 140 designs from the V&A's collection and Vivienne Westwood's personal archive.
