PROVING a man for all seasons, the incomparible Ivan Brackenbury will be presenting his Hospital Radio Christmas Show at the Caper Club at the Runaway Girl on Sunday.
It is is a preview of Ivan's forthcoming Edinburgh Festival Show, where he's previously won the coveted Spirit of the Fringe Award and was nominated for the If.comedy Best Show Award. Ivan Brackenbury is a truly bizarre and twisted comic creation, a hilariously inept hospital radio DJ with delusions of grandeur that would make even Dave Lee Travis blush.

The fact that it is called Chesterfield and North Derbyshire hospital radio show's Disease Hour gives a clue to the background of its creator Tom Binns, who grew up in the Derbyshire town. He also has strong Sheffield connections, having been born at Fox Hill and his mother is a primary school headteacher in the city.

The show is peppered with local references but that hasn't stopped the character appealing far and wide with a solo UK theatre tour, appearances on Radio 1, Virgin and GLR and Channel 4's 4-Music as well as sold-out solo shows at London's Bloomsbury Theatre.

When not disguised in a baseball cap and Timmy Mallet glasses, Binns has many TV and radio credits including Knowing Me Knowing Yule with Alan Partridge, Friday Night Armistice and Fist of Fun.

Also on the bill at the Runaway Girl is Jim Smallman, bone-dry storytelling wit previewing his Edinburgh Festival show, Hello My Name Is Jim And I Have All The Answers, plus Laidback Leicester gagster Adnan Ahmed.

lAlso on Sunday, across the city is a Last Laugh Comedy Club special at the Lescar in aid of its designated charity, Sheffield Children's Hospital. Host Radio Sheffield presenter and stand up comic Toby Foster will introduce Mick Sergeant, the award-winning creation of stand up comic and comedy actor Lee Fenwick, and John Bishop showcasing his new Edinburgh show, John Bishop – Cultural Ambassador. Artist and cartoonist Pete McKee will also be there, pencil in hand, to document the night's show. Other special guests are promised on the night which is free but the audience will be asked to make donations.

Tickets can be reserved on 08452519017. Doors open 7 30pm and show starts 8pm.
