THE HIP-HOP, reggae, soul star Michael Franti is renowned for his politically-fuelled songs and work with N.G.Os such as Oxfam and Amnesty International.
Now, Michael Franti and Spearhead return with All Rebel Rockers.
All Rebel Rockers kicks off with Rude Boys Back in Town, a lyrically weak number: 'The Rude Boy's back in town/I was walking down the street at a quarter to four…' Musically, the song
has a gentle, pleasant groove but this is obstructed by lyrical boasting about women and world tours.

But there is relief. Remote Control is a beat-laden, heavy-riffed number which brings balls to the album. It's a simple, catchy, poppy number with anthem potential.

Sound System is the album's clincher – a solid, hard beat and touches of strumming on guitar makes for a deeply funky number. The track's solid musical structure can withstand its arguably weak lyrics – they are less prominent in the context of the floor-filler track.
