Since her Monkey Swallows the Universe days, Sheffield's Nat Johnson has re-emerged as an alt-country songstress crafting delicate songs with rough-hard talking lyrics.
EP opener Dirty Rotten Soul fuses gentle, rolling guitar melodies backed by strings. But it's gentle sound is juxtaposed with its lyrical theme of infidelity: 'Tell her won't be home/tell her your a dirty rotten soul/ tell her you'll be with me.'
Next up is a cover of Cake's Mexico, a gentle, sombre number with slow, Gillian Welch-like vocals. Mexico's a dreamy, lullaby-like number painted with a hypnotic aesthetic.
