Sharleen Spiteri has announced her first UK solo tour.
The tour announcement comes hot on the heels of the release of Scottish singer's album Melody, which is her first venture as a solo artist away from the band Texas which she has fronted since 1988.

Melody, which was released back in July, went in at No three in the Album Charts.

Sharleen wrote and produced the whole album, steeped in the sound and textures of '60s soul, '50s rock'n'roll and doo-wop.

Taking to the Sheffield City Hall on January 30 2009 Sharleen will perform tracks from Melody for the first time, along with a few Texas classics and some musical surprises.

Tickets go on sale on Friday this week.
