HOT Club of Cowtown, who have played support to the likes of Bob Dylan, Willie Nelson and The Mavericks, are the main attraction themselves in Sheffield next week.
After previously playing at the Montgomery Theatre and the former One Eleven Club, the trio bring their exuberant western swing to the Memorial Hall on Tuesday.

Elana James, who sings and plays fiddle, has already been there as part of her own trio. Now she's back with Whit Smith on guitar and vocals and Jake Erwin on bass and vocals.

A UK tour coincides with an album, a 20-track anthology called The Best of Hot Club of Cowtown (Shout! Factory records), released this month, ten years after they made their recording debut – a significant step up from busking in a park in San Diego.

There's strong support, too, from Texan Hayes Carll, whose Trouble In Mind album is picking up good reviews for its alt-country approach that combines musical nous with a dose of humour. Look out for She Left Me For Jesus.
