INDIE rock giants Kaiser Chiefs have been confirmed to headline the Love Music Hate Racism indoor carnival at Rotherham's Magna science and adventure centre next month
The Leeds stadium fillers will join Sheffield stars Reverend & The Makers, Roll Deep, The Courteeners and Richard H Kirk of legendary Sheffield electronic music innovators Cabaret Voltaire on September 6.

Some of the world's top DJs will also make up the bill of the event, set to draw 4,000 to the former Templeborough steelworks site prompted by the town's election of two BNP councillors in May.

Tickets have been sold only to residents of South Yorkshire and the final batch of 500 will go on sale this weekend in Rotherham and Sheffield.

Love Music Hate Racism in Rotherham, and 'The Reverend' Jon McClure, have been working together to stage the show in an attempt to prevent the BNP gaining a foothold in South Yorkshire.

The party made local history by winning its first ever South Yorkshire seats, in Brinsworth and Catcliffe and Maltby wards.

Other activities on the day will include a free event outside the Magna Centre to include local bands, a fun fair and kids' soccer.

A rally and workshops inside Magna will encourage supporters to plan an ongoing campaign to oppose the BNP, leading to a big Northern Carnival next year to coincide with the European elections.

Speakers from trade unions and faith and community leaders will address visitors.

John Healey MP, Minister of State and MP for Rotherham, supports the gathering and said: "I am pleased to back what promises to be a great event with such an important message.

"It is great to see big names in music coming to Rotherham and I hope as many local people as possible will go along, enjoy themselves and show their support."
