A DECADE ago Travis were barely on the first rung of the fame ladder, playing a rather sparsely populated Leadmill.
But tonight – ten years on, is a triumphant return for a re-energised band playing a gig that is up close and personal, compared with their arena tours.
The Leadmill is absolutely heaving, with sweat dripping off the walls and Scottish Travis have
the audience eating out of the palms of their hands from the word go.
It's easy to forget how many anthem-charged hits Travis have had over the years.
As the band play hits such as Turn and Sing the Leadmill could well be the Glastonbury main stage, if you shut your eyes.
The set includes heavier numbers from their recently-released Ode To J Smith album but it's singer Fran Healey and Travis' back catalogue that has the crowd pogoing the house down.
The raw All I Want to Do Is Rock and the polished Flowers In The Windows are the perfect songs to put the credit crunch blues on hold for one night.
Travis finish with a cheery and acapella-style finale of Why Does It Always Rain On Me.
