Around 1,000 people visited the Sheffield Model Railway Exhibition over two days.

Fifteen layouts covering a variety of scales, gauges and interests, were on display last weekend at Birkdale School in Broomhill, as well as trade and society support being on hand.

“Everybody had a good time and went home very happy,” said Kevin Rayworth, exhibition manager with Sheffield Model Railway Enthusiasts.”

It was a bit of a contrast, though, he reflected, to the heady pre-computer days of the late 80s when up to 12,000 people would travel to the City Hall.

There are 25 members of the organisation. Their website contains more information: www.sheffieldmodelrailwayenthusiasts.
