1,600 witnesses to Hillsborough horror

More than 1,600 people have come forward as witnesses to the Hillsborough Disaster.

The Independent Police Complaints Commission is looking into the actions of police officers in the wake of the 1989 tragedy that claimed 96 lives, after it emerged that police officer statements were altered afterwards.

Another investigation, Operation Resolve, is looking at what caused the disaster and whether there was any criminality. Information is being passed to the coroner overseeing new inquests.
