THE Bishop of Hallam, the Rt Rev John Rawsthorne, led the Corpus Christi procession around Sheffield centre on Sunday.

About 400 people joined the procession from St Marie’s Cathedral in Norfolk Row, which paused at specially-erected altars in Tudor Square, the Peace Gardens, outside the Town Hall and on Fargate before ending in Barker’s Pool.

The event is in honour of a feast day which celebrates the body and blood of Jesus Christ and dates back to the 13th century.
