Sheffield Central MP Paul Blomfield has completed his third annual ‘Big Conversation’, holding 61 meetings over three weeks.
Meetings were held with community and tenants’ groups, businesses, students, faith leaders, older people and Chinese and Somali community representatives.
One major concern was the impact of council cuts on adult social care. “The argument that people aren’t interested in politics doesn’t hold water,” said the Labour MP. “Just short of 1,900 people came to talk to me. People want the engagement and they want to see change. I was struck by how difficult people’s lives are at the moment. In particular, change needs to be made in the workplace.”
