Although the film became famous internationally for telling the story of redundant Sheffield steelmakers who became male strippers, the musical spin-off switched the action to Buffalo, New York, and opened on Broadway in 2000.
So when when Full Mont
y: The Musical is performed at the City Hall from Tuesday, August 17 to Saturday, August 21 there'll be American accents among the cast.
Auditions are being held in Sheffield on Sunday and Croft House director Adrian Allsop said: "I'm looking for strong personalities who are able to speak in an American accent.
"They should be out going and enthusiastic but they also need to be able to sing to a high standard."
Adrian started his career at Croft House before success as a director and choreographer took him to the West End and beyond.
Now he is returning to his roots for what is being described as one of the most memorable productions the society, established in 1902, has ever produced.
Auditions are being held at the Park Library in Duke Street on Sunday from 10am until noon.
Anyone is welcome to come down and give it a go, although it is being pointed out that men auditioning for lead roles won't be asked to bare all on this occasion.
However, they might have to be daring enough to do so for the production.
Tickets for the City Hall production are now on sale.
