THE Mayor of Chesterfield has been quizzed by police as part of a probe into a neighbourhood dispute which resulted in damage being caused to a door and window.
Coun Chris Ludlow, aged 55, has been mayor since last year and is preparing to hand over the honour to her successor later this month.

She was arrested on suspicion of causing criminal damage to a property in Poolsbrook in the early hours of last Friday.

The mother-of-three, who is also a grandmother, was arrested along with her husband and consort Kevin, 49, who run the Victoria Inn, in Lowgates, Staveley, and a 30-year-old woman from Pools-brook.

It is alleged a door and window were damaged and that an axe and baseball bat were involved.

The trio have been bailed until next month pending further police inquiries.

Inspector Ian Palfreyman, of Derbyshire Police, said: "We can confirm there was an incident concerning three people involved in an alleged neighbourhood problem and they have been arrested."

Coun Ludlow is a Staveley town councillor and Middle-croft and Poolsbrook borough councillor.
