TWO primary schools will break new ground for Sheffield when they become federated in a bid to boost standards.
Fox Hill at Parson Cross and Monteney in Ecclesfield are to work together from September under a single headteacher and governing body.
This will be the first primary federation in Sheffield, though Birley primary and secondary plan to adopt a si
milar system and Abbeydale Grange is currently looking for a secondary partner.
The two primary schools have been working together on an informal basis for nearly two years, under the leadership of executive head Nicola Shipman.
Consultation over the new arrangement took place between March and May and has now been given formal backing by staff, parents, pupils and governors.
Coun Andew Sangar, cabinet member for children's services, said: "Federation is an excellent way of helping these two schools to maintain and raise their standards of education."
