A RETHINK is in the air for the Moorfoot tower.
Plans to add 14 storeys to the existing 22 are being scaled down after council officers indicated concerns over the effect on the skyline.

Now, instead of 36 storeys, developers Velocity Estates are making a revised application for 30 alongside a neighbouring 18-storey wing with a four-storey link.

They are working with Axis Architecture on the development at St Mary's Gate, opposite the end of Ecclesall Road.

Debbie Hoare, of Axis, said the existing "high quality" glass tower of apartments had already had an impact on the skyline of Sheffield "and become a major talking point in and around the city".
