Sheffield University, Sheffield Council and Sheffield Events Company are joining forces in the build up to Britain's biggest Halloween Party.
Fright Night started in 2001 as a small event on Fargate, and in eight years has grown into Britain's biggest Halloween Party, now attracting over 35,000 visitors each year.

This year the University of Sheffield is joining forces with Sheffield
Events Company and Sheffield City Council, with the aim to develop the cultural content of the night.

Professor Vanessa Toulmin, Director of the National Fairground Archive (NFA) at the University of Sheffield, is supporting Fright Night by arranging street entertainment and offering her vast expertise in the entertainment industry.

In appreciation of her support Sheffield City Council and Sheffield Events Company have donated Fright Night posters from the past eight years to add to collections in the National Fairground Archive

This year's Fright Night will be held on Sunday October 26 between 3.30pm and 8.30pm, taking over Fargate, Barkers Pool, The Peace Gardens, Tudor Square, Surrey Street, The Winter Gardens and Millennium Square.

Attractions include street entertainment, ghost trains, haunted houses, fancy dress catwalk, live music, firewalk, craft stalls, urban dance, Daleks and Star Wars Storm Troopers.

Professor Toulmin said:

"Fright Night has become a fantastic event for Sheffield and I am really looking forward to being part of such a wonderful occasion. I am also delighted that the National Fairground Archive will hold copies of the posters in the Archive for future generations."

Scott Barton, Event Organiser, said:

"We are delighted that the University of Sheffield and Professor Toulmin are supporting the event. Professor Toulmin has an international reputation and her expertise will be a massive help as the event grows year on year. We are very proud of Fright Night and the fact that it has the support of so many organisations in Sheffield, so to have the University on board too is great for us."
