A CLEVER swipe-card for passengers to use on public transport has been extended to more routes in Sheffield.
'Yorcard' is South Yorkshire's own version of the London Oyster, which allows passengers to pre-pay for journeys and then swipe their card in front of an electronic sensor.

Transport bosses hope it will help to speed up journeys by cutting down on
the time drivers spend at stops issuing tickets and will also encourage more passengers onto buses, trams and trains.

The system is so far in use on the 'Brightbus' school bus to Notre Dame and Tapton schools, and the Stagecoach bus numbers 52 and 120.

Now passengers using First buses 40, 41, 42, 51, 52 and 552 can take part, and soon the card will be extended to rail services between Sheffield and Doncaster.

Yorcard is available from Sheffield Interchange or Arundel Gate Mini Interchange, or to concessionary pass-holders like school children, students and OAPs. Anyone signing up to trial Yorcard could win monthly prizes from laptops and TVs.
