Sheffield’s favourite pantomime dame surprised passengers at Sheffield Railway Station when he took to the platform wearing a very unusual costume.

Damian Williams, who is currently starring at the Lyceum Theatre in this year’s production of Dick Whittington, took to the station to show off his first-class train outfit.

The getup was inspired by East Midlands Trains, who are the sponsors of the show,

Dick Whittington is running at the theatre until January 4. Directed by Paul Hendy, the show follows on from last year’s smash-hit production of Jack And The Beanstalk.

The show tells the story of the boy who sets of for London to see his fortune in the big city and stars CBeebies presenter Andy Day as Captain Crabstick and EastEnders actress Samantha Womack as Fairy Bow-Bells.

Dan Bates, chief executive of Sheffield Theatres, said: “Working with East Midlands Trains as sponsors of our pantomime has provided a great opportunity for us to work together to showcase the ease of travelling from London to Sheffield as well as Sheffield Theatres’ cultural offer, and to have a bit of fun!

“The special costume that Damian Williams wears during a scene in the show looks great and is a brilliant link with the story of Dick Whittington.”

Tickets are on sale now priced from £10 to £24 and are available from Sheffield Theatres’ Box Office on 0114 2496000 or online at sheffieldtheatres.co.uk

Next year, the Lyceum Theatre will put on a production of the classic Arabian tale Aladdin, made famous by Disney, also set to be directed by Paul Hendy and starring Damian Williams.
