A SIMPLES box of mealworms served in a Union Jack box helped these curious critters celebrate the Diamond Jubilee.

With their enclosures adorned with bunting and flags the animals of Yorkshire Wildlife Park were given a special lunch yesterday to celebrate Queen Elizabeth’s 60 year reign.

Park director, Cheryl Williams said: “The place was decked out in bunting and flags for the animals to enjoy their special jubilee lunch.

“The meerkats got their special delivery of mealworms in a Union Jack box at around 2pm.

“We also had Vladimir the tiger climb up his flag pole at exactly 12.30pm.

“We had to cheat a bit and put a piece of steak at the top but he climbed up there,” she said.
