SHEFFIELD Sharks basketball coach Atiba Lyons was guest speaker at an awards evening staged by Sheffield Park Academy.

GCSE students, many of whom have stayed on at the academy’s sixth form, were presented with their certificates by the player coach.

Summer 2010 saw the academy record its best-ever GCSE results, with 31% of students achieving five good passes including English and maths.

Principal Andrew Cooper said: “These results were far in excess of anything this school has seen in the last few years and we wanted to celebrate that success with a special evening for our former Y11 students.”
