An Over Fifties Drama Group is being launched at the Psalter Tavern, Psalter Lane, on Tuesday morning.
Freelance drama practitioner Grace Stead wants to set up a weekly day-time session with a format to be determined by the participants.
“It’s time to combat loneliness from the inside and start creating theatre that will make people stand up, listen and think about the group of people which we make invisible,” says Grace who has previously worked with youngsters and with older people with dementia but feels there is little provision for this age group.
She is hoping to attract both people with no experience and those who have been members of amateur societies in the past but became disillusioned with the lack of opportunities for maturer actors.
“Ultimately I would love to do reminiscence theatre and tour it to the wider community but first I want to give ownership to the group
Anyone interested - and that can be in other aspects of drama other than performing - can just turn up on Tuesday at 10am, email firstname.lastname@example.org, or call 07967729699.
