FIVE football fans are wanted by police over an assault on train passenger.

The 26-year-old victim was travelling home to Worksop with friends after watching cricket in Nottingham when a row broke out between them and a group of football fans - believed to be followers of Nottingham Forest - British Transport Police said.

One punched the victim in the face and two others kicked him in the back, leaving him with cuts and bruising.

BTP have released CCTV images of five men they want to talk to in connection with the incident, which took place on a train between Nottingham and Shirebrook on Saturday, May 26, at about 9.30pm.

Detective Constable Tony Bennett said: “This was a nasty attack that saw several men attacking another man.”
