A woman is still recovering after being hit by a car almost three months ago while walking with her son and dog on Bradway Road.

Julia Whitwam, of Bradway, suffered a broken leg when a red Mini Cooper mounted the pavement on July 30 at about 10am. The driver had lost control after swerving to avoid a Honda pulling out from the Sainsbury’s store forecourt. Julia, 30, managed to push the pram with 15-month-old son Noah out of the way.

She has had two operations on her ankle, but has been unable to return to work as a marketing manager. Law firm Irwin Mitchell, which is helping her gain access to rehabilitation, such as physiotherapy, is appealing for witnesses. Contact Rachel Cooper on 274 4941; Police are also investigating.
