CARERS at a Sheffield animal home are looking for foster carers to help an ‘affectionate’ dog regain her confidence.

Bullied by another dog in her old home, black-and-white collie-cross Roxy arrived at RSPCA Sheffield, Attercliffe, a few months ago and staff have been working to rebuild her confidence.

Tony Benham, animal care manager, said: “Roxy needs a holiday from a kennel environment to access a normal, friendly and welcoming home in which she can develop her doggy skills and regain her confidence, before we seek a permanent home for her.

“While being affectionate and gentle, she needs the opportunity to reconnect with a normal environment where she can meet strangers and experience new situations.

“A fosterer with patience and time, ideally without other pets, is needed so they can reintroduce this dog to the outside world. She loves cuddles and will need a minimum of two 45-minute walks a day.

“She will need support to build up periods she can spend alone, until she is fully relaxed.

“But what Roxy needs most of all is love and some quality time in a normal, quiet but active foster home.”
