SHE’S a fairy with attitude... but could you step into the shoes - and the flying harness - of Peter Pan’s favourite high-flyer Tinker Bell?

Auditions for Tinker Bell are part of the preparations for this year’s pantomime Peter Pan, which will run at Rotherham Civic Theatre from Wednesday, December 5, until Sunday, January 13.

To audition, girls must be aged between seven and 11 years old, have an engaging personality, and be good at delivering lines.

Crucially, girls trying out must have no fear of heights - as they will be required to fly in a harness as part of the coveted role.

Rotherham Theatre Manager Mark Scott said: “Though sometimes ill-tempered, spoiled, and very jealous and vindictive - getting the Lost Boys to shoot arrows at Wendy, for example - Tinker Bell at other times is helpful and kind.

“Tinker Bell has been known to deliver memorable lines such as, ‘Every time someone says I do not believe in fairies, somewhere there’s a fairy that falls down dead’, and, ‘You know that place between sleep and awake, the place where you can still remember dreaming? That’s where I’ll always love you’.

“With such classic lines, Tinker Bell is an interesting character to play, so this should be an amazing opportunity for someone who feels they can portray her many faces.”

The auditions will take place on Thursday, August 23, at Rotherham Council’s Riverside House on Main Street, Rotherham.

The event will be a preliminary audition, with final auditions to be held in September.

Girls should arrive no later than 1.30pm to register.
