A CITY woman who lost both her parents to cancer within a year nominated a support centre for an award after it helped her through her ordeal.
Kate Ibbeson, aged 41, from Walkley, put Weston Park Cancer Information and Support Centre forward for a ‘Caring For Carers Award’ handed out by Sheffield Carers’ Centre in recognition of ‘outstanding organisations and individuals who have supported unpaid family carers in their caring role’.
Kate said: “When both my parents were diagnosed with cancer I knew I had to keep going as I wanted to do the best for them.
“Losing a parent is life changing but to lose both, and in such a short space of time, was something else. I felt really lucky to have such a great facility to help me through an incredibly tough time.”
