Barnsley College catering tutor Martyn Hollingsworth put his expert palate into action when he judged a magazine’s 2014 Restaurant of the Year Awards.
Martyn was on a three strong judging panel for Eastside magazine alongside reader Charlotte Lister and managing editor Chris Wilson.
The trio dined at gastropubs, bistros and cafes before agreeing that The Blacksmiths in Clayworth, Nottinghamshire was the winner.
And at the awards ceremony at The Crown Hotel in Bawtry Martyn discovered that former Barnsley College catering student Liam Philbin is head chef at The Blacksmiths.
Martyn said: “It was a great experience to be part of the judging panel and to see and taste the exceptional food and creative flair on offer.”
