SOUTH Yorkshire beauty queens Jaime-Lee Faulkner and Caroline Welch both missed out on being crowned Miss England at a glittering awards ceremony.

Jaime-Lee, aged 22, from Rotherham, may not have won the crown - but she did beat 58 other contestants to secure a place in the Top 17 after winning one of the 12 judges’ choice awards up for grabs on the night.

She subsequently lost out on a place in the top five to girls including Miss South Yorkshire, Caroline Welch, 17, from Doncaster, who came fourth. Miss Devon, Charlotte Holmes, 24, took the crown in Leicester.

Jaime-Lee said: “The competition was so tough this year - there were so many fantastic girls. I had an absolutely amazing experience.”

The new Miss England will jet off to Inner Mongolia in July to represent England at the Miss World final. She will also enjoy a one-week all-expenses-paid holiday to Mauritius where she will participate in the Mauritius Carnival.
