SHEFFIELD Friends of the Earth are urging people to pay close attention to the bee population.

The group are holding a walk around the city tomorrow to show how bees are anything but pesky summer creatures, and instead have a vital role in our eco-system.

John Wilson, representing Sheffield Friends of the Earth on the walk, said: “Bees pollinate over 75 per cent of our food crops. If numbers continue to drop we will have to resort to human pollination which will see huge increases in our food prices.”

The walk sets off from Devonshire Green at 2pm.
