Blades apprentice Louis has an Italian job in store

sheffiELD United apprentice Louis McCarthy has netted an international trip to work-shadow one the world’s biggest sports retailers.

The 19-year-old, who is studying an NVQ level two retail apprenticeship has been chosen to attend a fact finding mission to Italy.

It follows him being named apprentice of the month by Rotherham College of Arts and Technology, where he also attends as part of his course. He has been selected to visit the Blades’ kit sponsor, Macron to see what working methods they use and how it can help him in his role. Blades fan Louis, from Chapeltown, said: “This will be an amazing experience for me. I will be looking at how they manage and distribute their merchandise and see how it differs from the way we work. I am looking forward to the trip and to use any techniques I learn in my place of work at Sheffield United.” Lisa Crossland, retail sales manager at Sheffield United, said: “During his time with us so far Louis has surpassed any expectations of him, which is highlighted in the fact Louis carries out a number of key tasks independently.”

“He shows enthusiasm to learn all aspects of the job and has fitted into not just our own department but the whole of the club seamlessly.”
