THE plight of young carers in Sheffield is being highlighted by a business.

Shirecliffe’s Co-operative Pharmacy has chosen the Carers Trust – which provides breaks, information, advice and support for 14 to 25 year-olds facing the challenges of caring in the city – as its charity of the year.

Staff held a ‘Rock Around the Clock’ day to convey the nature of the challenges faced by unpaid carers.

Pharmacy manager Janet Parden said: “The challenge of unpaid caring is an often hidden issue, even though it can affect most families at some time. We’re delighted we have the chance to make a difference to the lives of young people.”
