Bus passengers urged to check changes

Changes to dozens of bus services across Sheffield and South Yorkshire are to come into force this weekend.

Some of the busiest routes affected include the 51 and 52 First routes from Hillsborough to Woodhouse, which will now run every five minutes rather than every four.

The First 84 service has been re-routed to operate between Loxley, Sheffield and Bents Green, replacing services 14 to Loxley and 81 to Bents Green.

The 85 bus will now operate between High Green and Millhouses, replacing service 13 to High Green.

Passengers travelling from Ecclesfield and Totley on the 97 or 98 services, or on the 87 between High Green and Lowedges, will also notice changes to the times of their buses.

The 11 and 12 services operated by First between Sheffield, Hillsborough and Stannington are to be withdrawn from Saturday.

These will be replaced by changes to the route and times of services 81 and 82 from Stannington to Ecclesall.

There’s only minor timetable changes to the Rotherham 11 and 12 services, operated by First between Rotherham – Clifton – Herringthorpe.

In Barnsley the S74 service from Elsecar to Hoyland will stop operating today.

The changes affect 41 routes run by First, Stagecoach, TM Travel and Sheffield Community Transport Services.

They will come into force today and tomorrow, Saturday, January 25 and Sunday, January 26.

Passengers are advised to check whether their bus service has been affected by the changes as soon as possible.

Information can be found on the Travel South Yorkshire website www.travelsouthyorkshire.com, at bus stops in Sheffield city centre or by calling Traveline on 01709 515151.

Passengers can also register on the website for email alerts which will tell them when changes take place on their service.
