BUS service changes for parts of Sheffield and Rotherham were announced this week by the region’s biggest operator, First.
Taking effect from Sunday, January 30, they are in line with passenger feedback and a punctuality review, said Brandon Jones, deputy managing director for First in South Yorkshire.
“They are positive changes that will help us improve our bus journey times as well as our service reliability, which can be affected by traffic congestion in busy areas.” he said. “This in turn will allow us to build on our recent announcement to freeze our fares in the area and look to grow the number of people travelling on our buses.”
Changes include a new service 35/37 between Wincobank, Hillsborough and the city centre, an amended route in the Norton Lees area, retiming of the morning peak time service of the service 17 between Norton Lees and Meadowhall, minor alterations to the afternoon timetable of service 30 between Dore and Crystal Peaks to ensure co-ordination with school finishing times and a revised evening and Sunday timetable for the service 82 to Ecclesall.
