£10m scheme for young jobless

Initiatives to help get young jobseekers in South Yorkshire into work were given a £10m helping hand from the Big Lottery Fund.

The money is going to the charity Sheffield Futures, which will oversee efforts to help 18 to 24-year-olds who have been unemployed or out of education for at least 12 months.

Lottery fund chair Nat Sloane said: “By bringing together the private sector and the knowledge of key charities, Talent Match will help ensure today’s young people have the maximum help and support they need to find a fulfilling and rewarding career.”
