Two of the UK’s largest indoor trampoline parks, costing £1.2m, are set to open in South Yorkshire, creating 70 jobs.

A giant indoor trampoline park opens at Parkgate shopping centre in Rotherham in autumn, followed by one at Meadowhall.

The trampoline park craze started in America and is spreading like wildfire across the UK.

The Jump Inc. at Parkgate will be one of the biggest in the UK, it is claimed, with more than 140 connected trampolines. It will also offer activities including dodgeball, wall running, slam dunk nets and fitness classes. Children under six will have their own zone for safe play, the owners say.

The purpose-built 30,000 sq ft centre will open seven days and is set to include a cafe, viewing gallery and six party rooms.

Chris Hayes, the founder of Jump Inc, who grew up in Handsworth, Sheffield said, “I became aware of trampoline parks on a visit to Australia and thought the concept would work well right here in South Yorkshire. “This is a very exciting project to be pulling together. It’s a huge investment in the local region and we will be creating around 70 jobs across the two sites.

“We wanted to do this in our local community to promote health, wellbeing and quality family time – encouraging all ages to get active while having fun.

“Our aim is to be market leaders in the UK with more parks planned in 2016. While this is a new sector in the UK, we aim to lead through innovation, park design and out-of-this-world customer service for an unrivalled leisure experience in a safe environment. We will be looking to recruit local people and help us grow Jump Inc. into the UK’s leading trampoline park operator.”
